Rules & Safety Guidlines
The Toothbrush Challenge is more than just a fun festival challenge—it’s a community-driven movement to prove that kindness, resourcefulness, and generosity can thrive in a festival setting. By harnessing festival spirit, we can make a real impact for our nominated charity while leaving a zero waste footprint.
Start: Thur 19th June 2025 at 6pm
Finish: Sat 21st June 2025 at 6pm
(If there is demand from Festival Banter members arriving on Friday, we may add an additional group finishing on Sunday 22nd at 6pm)
-
As this is a pilot fundraising activity we will be restricting the number of participants this year to 12
-
Maximum group size is 4 people
-
We will meet in the Festival Banter Village in the Purple Field at Thursday 19th June at 6pm. Participants will have the option to store their rucksacks/tents and equipment with Festival Banter admin however all valuables should be stored in the lockers provided by the festival organisers.
-
All challenge members must be pre registered and have given the welfare team your emergency contact details.
-
All challenge participants will be fully supported by our welfare team throughout the challenge however they must sign a waver confirming that they are ultimately responsible for their own safety and behaviour during the challenge.
The Challenge
Using nothing but your charm, bartering skills and ability to tap into the IoW Festival community spirit your challenge is to survive 48 hrs with nothing but your toothbrush!
Make new friends and encourage everyone you meet to scan the QR code on your t-shirt and donate a little bit to the official IoW Festival charity
-
You are challenged to borrow and barter for essentials (e.g., food, water, shelter) but never beg or take advantage.
-
Each participant will have access to the Festival Banter JustGiving page via a QR code on their mobile and printed on their t-shirt to encourage donations.
-
There will be a completion prize for all those who make it to the end of two days and also a special prize for the participant who collects the most money.
-
Whilst we can't stop you meeting up with non challenger friends to camp, eat and be merry, we encourage you to consider the spirit of the challenge and make new friends, tap into the amazing IoW community and encourage donations whenever possible.
-
100% of all donations will go to the nominated charity.
-
All administrative costs will be covered by Festival Banter admin.
-
Share experiences on social media using #ToothbrushChallenge and tag @Iowfestivalbanter

Let’s Brush Up, Team Up, and Give Back!

So what's it all about?
Challengers will spend the first 2 days/nights (Thur - Sat) at the festival with nothing but their TOOTHBRUSH and their mobile for communication. Challengers will use their best blagging skills to collect supplies along with anything else they need to survive. As you meet new friends you will ask them to support you by making a donation using the QR code on your T-shirt or mobile.
You can take part as an individual or as a small group (max 4).
What better way to enjoy the amazing community spirit of IoW Festival than to challenge yourself, create zero waste,
Brush up, team up and give back!
