Lets see what our Festival Banter family say...

Traveling by CAR: By far the most popular option but it comes with its own downsides to be aware of: Full details of the parking fees are on the festival website and you must buy a ticket in advance. There are tens of thousands of cars at IoW festival so you need to be prepared for a long journey, a ferry crossing to consider, a long hike once parked and of course another long wait when going home. Things to consider: Yes, it gives the maximum convenience and you can pack the car full of 'stuff' but how much of this 'stuff' do you actually need? Ive seen pick-up's and vans arrive with enough equipment to build a small town including generators, mini fridges and inflatable paddling pools! Another consideration when driving is booze. You want to enjoy yourself and not worry about being over the limit on Monday morning when you head home. Most of all you need to be aware that its actually quite expensive to take your car to Isle of Wight Festival because of the ferry costs, petrol and parking. There will be some ferry offers available to Festival Banter members (see the FB group page) but its always best to book early if you can. There are loads of top tips available for taking your car to the festival. Try searching in the FAQ's section or our FB Group page

Next up its the BUS! Whether your coming from the highlands of Scotland or just the other side of the island theres a bus available to suit you. I'm a huge fan of 'Big Green Coach' who are the official coach transport provider for the festival. For around £100 return, you have almost door to door transport including the ferry crossing. You also have the chance to start your festival experience early, meeting new freinds on the way. The downsides are few but you will need to pack reletively light as BGC have some limitations on luggage, so leave your portable fridge at home. The biggest downside is that your restricted to arrive and leave based on the bus schedule for your pick up point. We arrived last year around mid day on the Thursday and so it took a while to find a camping space.
